This fan is absolutely stunning as an art piece. We've had this in our new master bedroom for over a year now, and every single person who has seen our room - and there have been many since this was our new house - from our friends to the contractor to a ton of sub-contractors have all commented on how beautiful it looks.
Now to be perfectly honest, it does move a bit slowly and hence does not circulate as much air, but we run our AC a lot anyway. If you need something that is efficient and fully functional as a fan, you may want to skip this, but it you want something that adds a level of panache not commonly seen with a fixture of this type, I'd recommend this without hesitation.
We did have two problems with this item that I would like to mention:
1. The central disk (don't know the technical term for it) is supposed to have 3 notches where the blades are supposed to slide in. Our disk had only two - the third one wasn't cut into it at all. We called the manufacturer who immediately sent out a replacement disk, but we had to wait for almost a week before installation (wasn't an issue for us though).
2. After installation, we discovered that one of the buttons on the remote did not work at all. The unit comes with a cheap plastic remote (it should be more Apple'esque to match the beauty of the fan). But we called the manufacturer and they immediately shipped out a replacement to us, no questions asked.
For something costing as much as this does, such problems should not occur to begin with. But we are absolutely thrilled with it and the attention it draws. In fact, we purchased another 2-blad Fanimation fan for another room and that one draws even more oohs and aahs.
