I travel frequently with my 65lb Belgian and I thought this would be an easier crate to travel with, while being more secure than the soft-side crates. It doesn't work for that. When it folds down, there is nothing built in to secure the crate from falling open again, unless you bungee it or stuff it back in the carrying case. It's just as heavy as an all-metal crate, possibly even more unwieldy, and not as quick to set up as a simple suitcase crate. However, I've been using it in the house as her home kennel and it's very nice for that. The floor is part of the crate, rather than a removable pan, which means there are no gaps to catch paws or let (ahem) mess out. Unlike the cheap plastic pans in many metal crates, it shows no signs of warping, splitting, or having a rough edge on it. It's easy to move while still set up - it has wheels on the bottom - as long as you aren't going far. You can turn it sideways and slide the side up similar to a garage door, which means no open crate door to bang your shin on. The plastic rounded corners are less injury prone, also. It looks nice.
Note that the door mechanism does not look like it would be up to a large dog who was really determined to get out; however that's just based on looks, my dog hasn't tried seriously to get out. It is too hard for my 3.5 year old to open and let the dog out, which may be a plus or a minus depending on your situation :)
This is the perfect size for my female Malinois, who's about 65lb, but too small for my male Mal (taller and about 75lb) and male Doberman (70lb).
