Does what you would expect it to do I have only used this particular product twice but had purchased the exact same thing a couple years ago and have used my first one many times. It works well but there is no way to close the opening on top completely so the open slit is always exposed. If the travel mug was to fall over, coffee or whatever drink is in it would start to leak out. This does not bother me and I prefer it to the type of mug where you have to open or twist the top to drink from it because it's awkward to drink out of those. I would recommend this product provided that you understand it's design.
