With Thanksgiving around the corner, it is time to start planning your table decor. From table linens to the place settings, there are key items to help you create that intimate look for your guests. Not everyone has large gatherings for Thanksgiving dinner, so we decided to give you five tips for creating an intimate yet glamorous table setting this season.

Tip 1: Select an Unexpected Color Pop

Selecting a pop of color will really define your space and give it visual focus. From autumn shades or variations of blue (like we did here), the ideas are endless. Here we used the blue in this Moroccan, Safaveieh area rug for a fun seasonal change. Then, we selected these gorgeous deep turquoise chargers to accent the more traditional brown and white plates. Even napkins with the same blue accents in the embroidery really carry the color throughout the table setting.

Tip 2: Layer Your Plates

We love to layer plates! Especially for Thanksgiving dinner when you have many side dishes to serve, additional plates give your guests the option to load up rather than taking small portions at a time, and layering adds dimension. The floral dinner and salad plates stack beautifully and pop with the blue.

Tip 3: Use Gold Accents

We added gold to not only the centerpiece design, but also to the table settings. To make a bold statement and set the tone, we used gold candlesticks along with the pheasant centerpiece. The Fitz and Floyd wine glasses and tumblers, in addition to gold flatware, add touches of glam to your table.

Tip 4: Use Real Vegetables for Table Decor

The grocery store can be your best friend when you are shopping for items to decorate the center of your table. Grocery store flowers can be just as gorgeous and those from a high-end florist. In this case, look beyond the flower section and head to the produce aisle. We used fresh crisp cabbage heads and wine-colored eggplants to mix in with baby white boo pumpkins.

Tip 5: Add Candles to Create an Intimate Touch

We added height to our centerpiece with tapered candles and the stag horn candlesticks. However, on a small tablescape, too many lit candles could be a little dangerous since there isn't much space. We used flameless candles at the base of our centerpiece design which gives the same effect.
