It does work. Sometimes I have to scan my finger several times. It is also necessary to maintain the battery or it of course won't open. The key works well, but that is not really the point of buying this.

Also has silent entry mode for stealth opening. The fingerprint scanner is better than most and like most fingerprint scanners you must be consistent with your finger swipe. Since the scanner has a hundred plus users, I suggest adding all your finger both under normal conditions and if possible under actual (in a hurry) use conditions.

I would recomend this gun safe to anyone that needs to keep their pistol at arms reach but needs to keep it locked away from children.

It is perfect for storing a handgun. Can keep it handy, and not worry about children or anyone else having access to it.

This allows me to keep my GP 100 loaded in a secure safe location where I don't have to worry about little hands getting ahold of it. It allows quick access with the finger print scanner. It holds up to 120 different finger prints so more than one user will have access if wanted. The only two options to open it are the finger print scanner or the key, not the key pad at the top of the hand print. Also the safety cable is only about two feet long so you have limited options on where to tether it up if you want.
