I am a furniture maker and use India ink to stain the lumber I use to make some furniture pieces. The ink provides a quick way to get a true black color that "ebonizes" the wood. It is easy to apply with a foam brush and is readily absorbed by the wood. I allow the ink stain to dry for several hours before topcoating with polyurethane as a sealer-finish. I have been very happy with the performance of the ink for this use.
