There may be some shedding with this rug, however it will diminish within a couple of months.

"Do you just vacuum it like a normal rug?"

I have a Dyson with strong suction and the settings need changed to bare floor in order to vacuum, otherwise the strands are thin and will get caught.

I vacuum it with brush attachment to minimize suction. I wouldn't use a regular carpet attachment, the rug is too delicate.

It really isn't. The rug is very long and particles easily will get caught up in it. I have a 6 month old and he already peed and pooped on it and I fear I won't be able to keep it much longer unless I actually steam clean it and I am not sure I can steam clean it since it's a shag carpet area rug.

This rug is luxurious, silky, shag. It is a low traffic rug. I have ut in a guest room to give a romantic feel. My childten love to lay on it, sit on it, , go to sleep in it's silky fluffiness. When vacuuming you must turn off brushes. I would say you could roll it up and take it to a pro rug cleaner...that is the only way I see cleaning this rug.

We advise not to throw our rugs into a machine washer and recommend all Safavieh rugs be professionally cleaned. Machine washing can lead to damages in the knots and fabric.

Shah rugs by nature are difficult to clean, as a designer I use them in guest bedrooms or pied a terres. Low traffic and non main areas, they are luxurious looking and feeling but know what you are getting o to and use accordingly.

Do you mean the plushness and feel? It's luxurious - everyone has to take their shoes off and walk on it the first time they see it. If weight in pounds . . my daughter in law and I rolled it up and moved it upstairs.

I am 60, o rolled it up and able to drag move it. My 70 yr old husband and I can lift it and carry it. I hope that helps.

We recommend treating stains immediately after spilling with spot cleaning.

have cats and they have vomited on the rug several times. I was able to easily clean up with no stains left behind. I just used a wet cloth.

i have a feeling stains will not come out very easily. I own two of these rugs, both in low traffic areas of the house. Fortunately, I haven't had anything spill on the rugs. But they are amazing to walk on barefoot, and look very so beautiful!

This item can be vacuumed without a beater bar. When the beater bar is not used the strands are not able to wrap around and are pulled directly upwards.

I've used my vacuum with beater bar several times with no problems, I was scared to vacuum it the first time but I haven't noticed any lost strands
