This pad works beautifully to keep the small fig I have at the front door in place. Before the pad I was having to reposition it hourly (or so it seemed) as the dogs barking at the front door made it move. I haven't had to reposition it since adding the pad. And it makes the rug a bit more cushiony which is good.

Very Durable Pad! I couldn't be more pleased with a rug pad than this one. I checked it carefully when it arrived. The workmanship was high quality and I knew that the pad would not pull apart under an 8 X 10 jute rug. Jute rugs can really do a number on a pad but after a couple weeks of high traffic and a quick check, nothing had moved or pulled apart.. The pad is durable and makes my new rug look even better, thicker. It feels like a comfort mat. The price was a great value and there is such a significant difference in comfort from another rug pad that I have under another rug that I may replace that one with this particular mat. Since it will be under your rug it will very seldom need to be cleaned. I just vacuum it if there is a need. This is a very nice pad and much better for your rug & floor than the rubbery, open weave ones.

I see no reason to clean it other than vacuuming when you rotate your rug (even out wear and tear) and you find dust bunnies on the edges. It is covered by the rug so shouldn't really get dirty. If there is a spill, I would immediately take care of it by lifting the rug and placing an absorbent material under the rug. These are great! The leftovers from trimming have really come in handy when we need furniture pads on hardwood flooring.

Since I use a carpet cleaner company to come in and clean my rugs whenever the rugs need to be cleaned, this is also cleaning the rug pad - they are steam cleaned. I don't remove the rug and clean the pads separately but if I needed to I would.

It's a non-skid rug pad that will reduce bunching and slipping. Since the rug will be susceptible to movement by chairs or other people, we do recommend a non skid rug pad.

I bought the 8 X 11 pad. I realized the pad size would be larger than the rug when I ordered the rug so I planned to cut it down to size when the two items arrived. I cut the pad with heavy duty shears and I cut it 6 inches shorter and 6 inches narrower leaving a 3 inch overhang of the rug with the pad underneath. If there is some other way to do it, it escapes me.

Buy the same size pad. You can make adjustments based on the size of your rug with strong sharp scissors. Be careful when cutting so you don't scratch your flooring. Enjoy.

Needs to be smaller. I trimmed mine about 3 inches smaller on each side of my area rug. If you leave it the same size, it holds up the rug edge. I found with trimming it (my area rug is size 9x11) back so it was 3 inches smaller on each side that the rug laid over it very nicely
