Love this rug pad. Purchased for two very thick rugs for my son's condo - for his performance floors. They do not smell and keep the rugs in place. Also with two puppies and a few accidents, the rug pad was not affected. They don't leave residue on the floor either. Would definitely purchase again.

Works Great I used the thin, plastic pads before just to keep the rug from sliding. I am so delighted that I bought this one as it provides some padding for a thinner rug, makes it look and feel more expensive and keeps it in place. A true winner. I had no chemical odor with this as others have mentioned.

Supreme and Durable pads -- can't tell difference I purchased the 8x10 Supreme Felted Dual Surface rug pad and also an 8x10 Durable Hard Surface and Carpet rug pad (which costs a little bit more than the Supreme). The main difference that I have seen was in how they were packaged. The Supreme was sent folded up in a big square, the Durable was sent rolled on a heavy cardboard tube. Both arrived in good condition, and both flattened out equally. I have had them both for about 3 weeks and really can't tell any difference between them except that the felt on the Supreme is perhaps a bit scratchier, and maybe a slight bit thicker than the Durable (which cost more). Save your pennies and get the Supreme, unless you have a desire to have an 8' heavy cardboard tube as well. ;-)

Thick, but smelly This pad is nice and thick, and it has rubber on one side to grip the floor. No complaints on its function. Oh, but it stinks. After we unwrapped it, I put it outside for the day. When we brought it back in, the smell was still strong enough to make me nauseated. Back outside it went for another day, and still no better. We finally just put it down. Now that the rug is over it, it doesn't smell anymore, but I don't ever want to pick up that rug, because that stench cannot be anything but harmful.

Terrific product Because of the heavy traffic in my family room, I needed something that would really hold my area rug in place. I have hard wood floors and the area rug was always roaming. It was a little tough to cut, but the results were impressive. The rug has not moved an inch since I put it in place over a month ago. With the extra pieces, I put them under certain areas of my sectional sofa and they have not moved a bit! I was thrilled with the results. The only negative is that is is not as cushiony as regular carpet padding, but carpet padding will not hold the rug in place at all.

I just did a little experiment. I put a towel underneath the pad and rolled my rug back. I poured a little water directly on the pad. It took a couple of minutes but the water did come through the gripper side of the pad. So I'd say it might buy you some extra time to grab a towel to clean a spill, but the pad won't block the spill from getting to the floor. So resist, yes somewhat. Waterproof, no. Hope that helps!

Yes it does! My husband spilled a FULL glass of milk on my rug within 2 weeks of buying it (and the pad)! I grabbed a towel and mopped up the rug, then rolled it to take to the cleaners. I went back to the mess. The pad had some milk on top of it, but it did not penetrate the pad or go down to the wood. This is a very good pad! Glad I spent the extra money on it!

I would say yes. I just laid it this week but I did spill some tea. I blotted it fairly quickly and the rug was on top but I did pick it up and there was NOTHING on the wood. I checked just to make sure there was no moisture. It sat just long enough for me to go to the utility room and get a towel but it's about 3 rooms away. Had it been a larger amount of liquid, I may have grabbed a bathroom towel quickly. Anyway....I think that with this pad and a rug, you should be fine. I also just checked again to ensure the pad didn't retain moisture and there is NOTHING in that spot. Hope that helps.

This is hardly "rubber", This is the thinnest layer of a material that doesn't stick but holds the rug in place to prevent slipping, like the rubberized pads ae supposed to hold without sticking to anything. I have mine over a wood floor with no effect on the floor. I like this pad lots more than the rubberized pads which can actually stick a little over time though not intended to.

I put the Mohawk Home Premium Felted Non-Slip Dual Surface Rug Pad (8' x 10') under my leather and rope woven rug. It is working like a charm. Because my rug has twisted leather strips woven in it as well as rope type natural fibers, some of the twists are uncomfortable to step on. The Mohawk pad alleviates that problem altogether. I have hard wood floors, too, but the previous owner of my house had rugs down and I have rugs down so the sunlight has yellowed the wood floors that are not covered with rugs. I have no idea if the rug pad will do any damage to my floors, but since I have to get them refinished one day anyway, I'm not concerned. I haven't had the rug pad long enough to see any change in the wood floor.

I would suggest getting a rug pad that is slightly smaller than the rug size if possible as these pads are quite thick and will be visible if they are the exact same size of the rug you are placing underneath. So, for the 6'7" x9'8" rug, a 6 x 9 pad would be perfect. If you cannot find a size that is slightly smaller, these are very easy to cut down to size - just use very sharp scissors and trim to your desired measurements.

I bought two large pads to cut into smaller pieces for a total of six rugs. It was a LOT of cutting! For a small amount of trimming a sharp pair of scissors would have sufficed but my hand was wearing out. I ended up using a large rotary cutter with a self healing mat underneath. It was fast and easy. Can purchase on *****. Search for Fiskars Rotary cutter, look for 45 mm blade size or better yet 60 mm. Contour handle is the best.

Adult sized multi-purpose scissors cut the pad. Regular 'paper scissors' would be difficult as the pad is textured (felt) with a rubbery coating.

Great Offer Stock was very good about sending me a return label quickly so I could return it but they sent out a replacement which also had a very bad smell. I'm not sure I want to go through the return process again so am airing mine out. It has been over a week now and the odor can still fill a room. Otherwise it is really is a great quality rug pad.
