Stunning piece The chest is much more beautiful in person than the photo shows. The wood is gorgeous, very solid, lid closes extremely well. It doesn't just drop/slam. Color is same as pic shown, just it has a beautiful satin finish. I LOVE it! PS. It has two holes drilled on the bottom interior- to allow air to circulate inside.

It is basically a box on legs. I think the confusion stems from the terms length, width and height. In this case, length is side-to-side, width is front-to-back, and height is top-to-bottom. Exterior measurements of the wood chest are: 46" long, 15" wide, and 14" high. It sits on 4" legs, so the entire piece including the legs is 18" high (standard bench/chair seat height). The interior measurements for storage are: 44.5" long, 13" high and 13.5" wide. BTW, it's a beautiful piece!

"Can the legs be removed if we wanted to replace them with something else?"

The metal "legs" (they are actually support brackets) are very well secured with 8 screws per bracket, but they should detach easily. Once you get your chest, you should find the metal legs less obtrusive than they appear in the advertisement. In place at the base of my bed, I hardly notice them at all. We are very happy with our purchase, hope you'll be too.

It is also only 17 in. high, so your TV would be sitting kind of low. It is sturdy enough to hold today's lighter TV's though. Of course, that would make it difficult to use it for storage.
