For a sub *** bed this is great - it's very sturdy and the weight of the materials gives me confidence it will hold up over time. Responding to the bad review I think they did not follow the instructions or the bed has changed since they purchased it, I found it to be very sturdy in the end and was able to put it together myself with only a little struggle lining up the headboard and side pieces - with two people it would be very easy. The hardest part was carrying the three boxes upstairs myself, the headboard box is super heavy, but all boxes were super well packed with multiple layers of cardboard. There is a hidden support board and legs in the middle of the bed and the slats screw into the frame, there is NO WAY the sides are coming off. Overall build was simple, if you've ever built flat pack furniture this will be a cinch. Before purchasing double check your mattress sizing, not all queen mattresses are the same dims and the bed does seem to be a little longer than our mattress, but nothing drastic- I could see it being an issue depending on what mattress you use. Also, this bed is high from the floor, so you will not need a box spring/platform. I purchased a box spring before the mattress arrived and with it on the bed it looked like the princess and the pea. We have a 10in foam mattress and it's the perfect height and we don't feel the slats through the mattress which has happened on my old *** bed. Overall very happy with it.

very happy I purchased this bed on a whim. It only had one review posted at 2 stars but it was a good sale price and couldn't pass up the chance. I am so happy I took the chance! It is super easy to put together, looks fantastic and is sturdy. I have been looking for a mid century, west elm-like bed that doesn't cost and arm and a leg. It is the west elm look at a fraction of the cost! The only thing I would say that is mediocre is the support beams under the bed in the middle, they are cheap. They are not a big issue for me though as they are hidden and the bed is still sturdy. The only other issue is I ordered the oak and it is not a light oak color. It is a little bit deeper oak than what the picture shows. Still love it though. We do not have a box spring with it, you do not need one. I will add a photo when I get a chance.

Unstable and poorly sanded The bed was relatively straight forward to assemble except the side rails do not remain in place and can slide out easily. Good luck putting it together without 3-4 to hold everything in place as you manuever the board in. The frame was poorly sanded on the sides which were not painted. The wood was scratched in some discrete areas and there were chunks of wood missing from legs that support the center of the slats (luckily you cant see it without looking under the bed) which causes concern about how safe this product can be.

Pretty Nice for Flat-Pack Furniture I've bought many pieces of *assemble it yourself* furniture and this by far had the best packaging for shipment. It was double boxed with heavy cardboard and the individual pieces were well wrapped and isolated from each other and there was plenty of quality foam (not that stuff that deteriorates into tiny balls of statically charged particles) for cushioning. This manufacturer gets 5-stars for the effort and care and should serve as reference for all other makers of furnishings that are intended to be shipped to customers through parcel services. Needless to say, it arrived in perfect condition. The bed itself is like others have said- solid, sturdy, good looking. It looks like a quality piece of furniture from a good retailer. The only disappointment is the quality of the slats. They are unfinished and unsanded (and very heavy and unwieldy to handle), so the fact that I did not get a splinter is amazing. While it can be argued that they are not seen once the mattress is placed on top, that's not entirely true. You'll see the slats if your mattress is not perfect fit (when the covers are pulled back, or instance) and you run the risk of contact with the slats when tucking in sheets. Also, the package was short 4 screws for securing the slats- I just used some short drywall screws in their place. I would dock them one star for the slats, but considering the effort in packaging and all else, it's a solid 5-star purchase. Very happy overall.

Love this bed! This bed is perfect for my mid century guest room. It is very sturdy and the oak finish is beautiful! It took my husband less than 30 minutes to put it together. It really makes a statement. You can't go wrong with the price either!

It doesn't require a box spring. The space between the slats and the top of side rail is approximately 3 inches, and a bunk board will greatly support your mattress to prevent the slats from shifting overtime.
