    I do not have a scale to weigh it on, but I can tell you it is way too heavy for me to hold, even with both hands. This is for the man of the house to use or a very strong woman.

    This is a very heavy pot. The heaviest I've ever owned. I can lift it to put it on the stove but once you start putting things in it I wouldn't even attempt it. I made spaghetti sauce and used a cup to put it in containers for freezing. I have disabilities too so the weight is a real issue. However, I have to tell you that even though it's super heavy, it's fantastic! It's beautiful, huge and things cook beautifully in it. I'm so happy I have it.

    Joy, you will love this pot for soups and chili. You do need to keep on lower heat to avoid scorching since cast iron heats more quickly with even heat do not put in dishwasher. Soak in soapy hot water and it washes clean easily I bought my daughter n law one too for a family of 8. She loves it

    You can use them both ways. The larger dutch ovens with lids are great for roasting chicken and small pot roasts, and the pots are pretty enough for the table if you put a good solid trivet under them.
