    This rug has a typical woven back. I don't see how it would scratch wooden floors. If it slips around too much, you might want to get a rug pad. Mine is on tile with a slight texture and I don't find a need for a pad.

    I bought the larger one and love it so decided to continue the colors and pattern throughout the common areas of the house. DOES need a pad for additional padding and protection of hardwood.
