Beautiful This pendant ceiling light was so lovely! But I didn't account for my 8' ceiling being too low for what this light needs- over a table or hung from a high ceiling ... neither of which I have. Plus, 22" is a lot wider than you'd imagine it to be. Again, gorgeous light, needs a big space.

Its Great but Misleading First of all, I want to say that I enjoy this light, and I like the way it looks in my kitchen. I've received a number of compliments on it. But to the wary shopper, I'd like to at least address a few observations that I've made: My main beef with this light is that there's no actual cork on it. What you will get is an attractive shade that has paper around it that has the appearance of cork. Basically its paper that has had a cork pattern printed on it. There's a big difference there. In the item description they call this a "Natural cork wrap shade", which COULD be misleading. When you check the material components it lists "Metal, Nickel, Steel. No mention of cork of course, but no mention of paper either. So just be prepared. There's no cork on it. Secondly, this light hangs down too low for my needs with an 8ft ceiling. Bascially, if you assemble this thing with just the shortest extension piece, this light is going to hang way down low and hover about 3 - 4 feet above your table.This is fine if the light is directly over your table. It can look pretty cool. But if the light is going to be in your room with no table under it, it will hang down low enough where 6 foot people like myself are going to run into it! I remedied the situation by removing the whole attractive nickle fluted flare piece from the photo and just went with a short stem hanging down from the ceiling. And I like it.

Great contemporary lamp I installed this lamp in about 30 minutes, with the assistance of my wife (holding the lamp while I fastened everything to the ceiling). The metal plate at the very top is 5" in diameter, if you have a medallion or pendant on your ceiling. The cork gives the lamp a nice earthly glow to the sides, the uncovered top allows the bulbs to illuminate the room well, and the frosted glass bottom allows for pleasant, bright lighting underneath. In a 15x12 room, this ceiling lamp lights up the whole room pleasantly -- not too bright, not too dim. There are two seams along the side, but I barely notice them. Very pleased, especially for the low price.

Modern and beautiful This is not an incredibly expensive light, so it's a bit lightweight. It's not going to look like you paid a million dollars for it. However, I think it's beautiful. I put in 100w equivalent LED bulbs and it lights up the entire room thanks to the open top. The light that comes out the sides is warm and in a really cool pattern, so it's not bright in your eyes--exactly what you'd want. I didn't experience any trouble with the cork peeling off, as was described in earlier reviews. It arrived in perfect condition.

Looks amazing in our open floor plan This is awesome! We used the shortest of the four extender pieces and it is PERFECT in our dining room on 8' ceilings. Its great they included 2 different extender sizes (3 longs and a short). Anyone can create the perfect size. The awesome cork means it looks super modern but yet not too industrial. I do all my own electrical and this is one of the easiest fixtures I've ever installed! Very light weight, and easy to connect to the existing box (I removed an old brass fixture). The ceiling mount is wide enough to cover the former feature but not too big at all. Everything arrived safe and sound in the shipping box, I was a bit worried about ordering a light fixture online, but not a problem at all! Love the natural cork look, highly recommend this fixture!

Thats interesting because mine is hanging in my kitchen, and its a paper wrapper. The one I ordered is NOT real cork. Cork, by my definition, has a texture. Its kinda thick. Cork is slightly spongy. Mine is a wrapper and it has a glued seam where they wrapped it around and bonded the two ends of the paper together. So either I got shafted on this deal, or the other reviewers don't know what cork is.

There is tubing that covers the wire. It comes with various lengths of tubing. We did not need to make an adjustment on this light, but we have cut the tube on another light/occasion. It can be done if you are handy.

With the included rods - no. The rods are all stainless steel metal so not flexible. They all screw together though, so if you wanted to find some sort of soft tubing.... The fixture itself comes with really long wires that you thread through the non-flexible rods and I guess there would not be anything stopping you from threading them through some tubing and making your "l shape" (I assume your ceiling outlet is not where you want your fixture to be). I guess you could run the wires along the ceiling, rig up some sort of a brace/hook where you want it to drop, and then thread it through the rods... but not sure that would look too fab on your ceiling.

I think you could. My ceilings are only 8 ft as well. There are several rods included to allow you to adjust how far from the ceiling the light hangs. I don't think it would be difficult to modify it to not use any of the rods. I can look at mine when I get home and let you know.

We have the exact same set up, 8 ft ceilings, dining room table. There are multiple rod lengths - so we went with the shortest one an d it's just perfect. I seem to recall there were 4 rods- I used the shortest one. Worst case, I'm sure you could have one cut and rethreaded if you wanted a custom length, but for us, the default option was great!

Real Cork! It's a very thin layer, and it looks AWESOME. We have real cork floors in our kitchen, so this made for the absolute perfect accent light in the dining room - we get a ton of compliments on it and it installs super easy. I was worried about the cork looking "cheap" but I will vouch that in our house it looks great with the lights on and off.

I'm glad John B. and phreddieqz got "real cork" components on their fixtures, but I ordered a light that did not have cork. It is a paper wrapper and even has a glued seam where you can see the two ends of the paper was bonded together. Basically, this is a lamp shade material thats got a cork design printed on it. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones like John B and phreddieqz and get a "real cork" one. What is cork?? I think of cork I think of something slightly spongy with a texture to it. You could stick a push pin into cork like on a bulletin board. The stuff around this light is made of paper, not cork.
