Story Behind the Art:
Individually handcrafted by artists on the exotic islands of Bali and Java in beautiful Indonesia, sarongs are one of the most versatile and earliest forms of clothing that date back thousands of years and have been utilized around the world in one form or another. These artists and their predecessors have been creating sarongs for centuries and are well known throughout the world for their skill, creativity and expertise. Batik is also a design method that has been employed for centuries and is handed down from generation to generation, usually from a father to son or mother to daughter. It is an extremely difficult art to master. Each batik sarong is a work of art and can take hours and sometimes days to create depending on the difficult of the design.
