Bookshelf is very sturdy and well built. I have some very heavy books, and I have no concerns about the shelves sagging. Overall, the item is very attractive, even on the back side since it is finished and not simple cardboard like many inexpensive units. However, since it is so solid, it is quite heavy so don't plan on moving it around much once you receive it.

This is a beautiful book case. It's solid wood and extremely well made. I wanted a bookcase that had deep shelves and this one was perfect, 19 inches deep and plenty of room for two rows of books per shelf. I could not be happier with this investment. It's a stately piece that I will continue to enjoy for years. The shipment was fast and the delivery people did an amazing job hauling it up the stairs. Would highly recommend white glove delivery as it is a very heavy book case.
