This Indian Rosewood bench is plenty large, heavy and beautiful. However, it has a darkish grey/light black stain which to me detracts from its natural beauty rather than a redish mahogany stain typically seen on other Indian Rosewood stained furniture. To further explain, the finish on the bench I received had a slightly gray dull see through black apearance rather than the lighter Brown Mahagony stainy with more red in it from the what I typically have seen in stained Rosewood. The top has a thick plank, however, there is a seperate board decending down its side, so the top is not one thick plank only.

Great sturdy bench I previously purchased another bench and returned it because it just didn't seem sturdy enough for people to actually sit on. This bench, on the other hand, is incredibly sturdy and beautiful too. It looks great in my dining room and will be used for extra seating at the table.
