  • Great for light and heat reduction!
    Verified Purchase

We purchased the universal blackout curtain liners for second floor windows in the house that receive a lot of morning sun. They work! Not only do they block out a significant amount of light, but they keep heat out as well. We have noticed that the 2nd floor is significantly (about 2 degrees) cooler during the day, and cozy enough at night to help the baby sleep in her nursery.

  • Does the job
    Verified Purchase

While they are shorter than my actual curtains, you can tie them loosely or tighter to be a bit longer or shorter than the actual measurements (but just by an inch or two). They certainly darken the room and are an inexpensive way to purchase curtains you love that don't have the darkening feature to them. Not as wide as my actual curtains, but they "smoosh" together to do the job.

  • Great Job
    Verified Purchase

I knew I needed blackout curtains but I loved the curtain I was using. These panels let me have the best of both. There are a few different ways to hang them depending on what kind of header your drapes have. My were garment panels and they work wonderful. Didn't expect them to work as well as the do. They hang beautifully and actually enhances my own drapes. Very easy to draw shut at night and open in the morning. I think you will be very pleased. I was.

  • Great Solution to Block Light.
    Verified Purchase

An added bonus to these is the insulating factor. Helps the room stay cool in summer and keeps heat in during winter. Provided it's installed without gaps it really does keep the light out.

Questions & Answers

  • Q:

"Do you know the weight of one 45x77 inch liner?"

    • A:

Hi, I'm sorry that I am unable to give you an exact weight as I have them all up and attached to my drapes. I can tell you they are fairly heavy, at least the same as my drapes. Because of this they really keep the heat out from the sun in the Summer. I have mine attached by small hooks on a ring that hold both liner and drapes and that works for us as heavy as it seems. I hope that helps you.

  • Q:

"What's the difference between ultimate liner and liner? Thanks."

    • A:

Hi, I'm not sure the difference as I bought this Universal Liner but can tell you it works great. Keeps light out as well as heat or cold. They are also pretty easy to install.

  • Q:

"Can these be used with ripple fold curtains?"

    • A:

      Yes it can.

    • A:

Yes, this item will work with ripple fold curtains.

  • Q:

"I know the description says to use with grommet-style curtains, but can these be used for back-tab curtains too? Thanks."

    • A:

I would think so as the linear has two installation options. 1 are the metal grommets which slide along the curtain rod and the second is you can tie the linear to the back of the curtain if loops are available.

    • A:

yes they will work for the back-tab curtains

    • A:

Yes, loop used on curtains are plenty big enough for rod use.

  • Q:

"I have (2 ) 54 by 84 inch curtains. What do I need to order?"

    • A:

I would suggest you order the 45 inches x 77 inch liners so that the liner does not show.

  • Q:

"I assume the metal rings that come with these can be opened up to insert thru the fabric loops and also around the curtain rod. Please confirm cause i need to attach to an existing grommet curtain that can't be taken down."

    • A:

The rings are not designed to be opened. There is a cut in the ring that you could pry open and re-close if you really wanted to but that would probably deform the ring or intentionally break it. As a suggestion you could just remove the rings and get shower curtain rings to replace them with.

    • A:

these work great with grommet curtains!!

  • Q:

"How are these liners installed? And do they attach to the rod or to the curtain?"

    • A:

Kind of hard to explain but I will try. The liners come with metal rings and go directly on the rod, each ring alternating in between the curtain rings. Attached to each liner ring is a loop of fabric. Not sure why it is there as it makes the liner hang too low leaving light shining through the top of the curtain. Included in the package was a bag of cloth ties. Not sure what theses were for but I used them to tie the loops up so there was no longer a gap at the top. Now it works fine and there is no longer a gap at the top where the sun shines through.

  • Q:

"As a follow up to my previous question, how many panels should I order?"

    • A:

I would order how ever many panels you need for your regular curtains so that they match up. If you have 4 normal panels, then you need 4 blackout panels.

  • Q:

"My window is 110"wide and 61" long. What size should I order!"

    • A:

This is just one liner so for one window you would need to order two of the 45 X 56.

  • Q:

"How many grommet holes are in each panel?"

  • Q:

"If I have an 84" length curtain which size should I buy?"

    • A:

45x77. Make sure the width of your curtain is 45" otherwise you will still have sunlight coming through your window

  • Q:

"I'm not quite sure how these work, do you just tie parts of it to the grommets?"

    • A:

They loop in between every other grommet on the same rod. They work great and eliminate the need for a double rod.

  • Q:

"I have room-darkening grommet curtains that are solid white and would love to use these liners behind them to block out more light. However, my concern is that even the "white" liners appear to have gray on the side that will face into the room. Will the gray color affect the way my curtains look? Does anyone have any experience with using these liners with light colored curtains?"

    • A:

You can choose which side to put the white side on. One side of the liner is gray and the other is white. I have the gray facing outwards and the white facing inwards in the room to look more pleasing. Hope that helps!

    • A:

Well I used them for behind Linen curtains and they darken the room well, but the do change the color to a bit darker...

  • Q:

"I have 96 inch grommet curtains, will the 88 inch liners fit appropriately? Does the top of the liner where it's just a hook measure about 8 inches?"

    • A:

This should work well with your curtains. We also recommend to keep in mind the length of your window as well.

  • Q:

"Do these also help with keeping cold out?"

    • A:

Hello 20somethingfemale, insulated curtains are designed to effectively block the cold outside air from seeping inside your home. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"The description says this is for ONE panel, but in a question response, it says this is a PAIR. Will you please clarify? Thanks!"

    • A:

Hello Joshua W., this item features one panel per order. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"Do I need a double rod for these to hang behind my curtains? My curtains hang from rings."

    • A:

Hello Joshua W., these would hang from the rod. Have a great day!

  • Q:

"I have a grommet curtain. From the picture it looks like the liner is on rings. Do I need to purchase rings or do they come with the liner? If I need to purchase rings, which type would you recommend?"

    • A:

Hello Valued Customer, you can attach the liner with drapery pins. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"Hello. I have vertical blinds that are just privacy. I need to black out the morning sun from my bedroom. Could these be used with the blinds? Can they be hung with a rod? the inside window measures 63" wide by 98" long. What do you think? Thank you! Mari Ann"

    • A:

Hello Mari Ann, this liner will help block more light from shining through your window. It can be used with blinds that are behind a set of curtains. The dimensions you have provided will require at least two panels. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"Would these curtain liners work if you hang your curtains with clip rings?"

    • A:

Hello CM84, this item is not designed to be hung with clip rings properly. Thank you for shopping with us.
