After reading multiple reviews and waiting six weeks to replace my broken vacuum, I bought the Severin Bagged Canister vacuum. I haven’t used a canister since I lived with my parents 30 years ago, but I thought I’d try this one even though it replaces an upright. I really like bagged vacuums. I had a really effective bagless vacuum but could not stand the residual odor in the canister which I washed well after each vacuuming session. It just never seemed clean despite my efforts. So, one reason I bought this was because it uses bags which I can throw away when I need to. I also read that it works well on wooden floors which I have: about 3/4 wooden floors and 1/4 Berber carpet. It works beautifully on wood floors and on doormats. I love that I can change the amount of suction so that I can clean curtains or dust ruffles on beds. I read review (a very long one ) about how you have to get used to this vacuum because it works differently and it was true. The first time I vacuumed I wasn’t so sure about my purchase, but I was excited to have a vacuum (remember I had waited six weeks to replace): but the second time was better. I had figured some things out. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to do the carpet, because there is no beater bar which I’m used to, but I will figure it out. My back does not hurt after I use this because it is so light. Once in a while, the canister gets caught around the corner, but mostly it just follows me around. It is so light to pick up and store. I love the retractable cord, the rubber wheels, and it is the most quiet vacuum I’ve ever used. Hope this helps you decide.
