This remote is designed to let you control your ceiling fan and lights from the wall, as you would any light. I did not realize when I purchased it that the wall control is actually battery operated--it is not hardwired to your light--which threw me a bit (you either need to have your electrician deal with the switch lighting you have, or you could just install a blank box and put this in it). To make it work correctly, you must install a receiver into the ceiling fan itself (instructions aren't all that clear, but if you hit YouTube you'll see exactly how it's done). I'm a little concerned about the longevity of the labels on the control--they look like they could wear off, but time will tell. If you have a high ceiling or simply don't want to mess with pull chains, you'll like this remote.
