This is a beautiful light fixture, but is actually a semi-flush mount. To install it, you need to use a chrome rod that comes down from the ceiling plate at least 6 inches and connects to the chrome frame of the light fixture. It's a great fixture, but not a flush mount as advertised and sold. My husband had to modify (cut) the hanging rod with his handy-man tools (I don't know what he used, but the electrician who we initially hired refused to do it), in order to make it into an actual flush mount. Just providing a bit of information.
