My husband and I love mid-century modern furnishings and own several vintage pieces. When it came time to pick out a headboard for our queen size bed, this new metal headboard was a slam dunk. Its pattern is reminiscent of prairie-style stained glass. The solid black finish fits most color schemes, including ours. The Queen Metal Square Black Headboard arrives mostly assembled. You simply slide in two leg extenders, and attach the connector panels to the legs using included bolts. The outer frame is built of wider piping than the inner grid, adding a sense of presence to the headboard. At roughly 20 pounds, the headboard is heavy enough physically to be sturdy, but light enough to be easy for one person to move. Unlike other inexpensive metal headboards I've seen, this one feels solid, with all joints firmly connected. It doesn't have any "wiggle" to it at all, meaning no squeaks if you lean against it or move around in bed. We have this flush against our wall. I'm not sure if it would be heavy enough to be a physical support if pulled out from the wall. We wanted something where we could lean back and 1) not lose the pillows and 2) the bed wouldn't roll away from the wall, since we have hard flooring in our bedroom and our bed rolls easily. This headboard works flawlessly on both counts. It attached to our existing standard queen-sized metal bed frame without needing any adjustments. The bolt-on connection plate allows flexibility if attaching to a range of frames, however. At 48" high, the Queen Metal Square Black Headboard has a mid-height profile. I'm 5'4" tall and it comes up to my chest. It works especially well for us, since our bedroom has a low ceiling. It's tall enough to add presence, without overwhelming the tiny room.
I love the headboard!! It looks soooo good and the quality is great! Totally elevates my room. I used the priage black finish wood bed frame. It's perfect!
