They are a thin fabric/canvas type material and they look great. This is the taupe 84" in the dining room and 96" in the living room. I ordered 5 sets and all of them match up perfectly!

You must protect these from UV exposure!
The only reason I am not giving these only 1 star is because there may be some thinking that I should have blinds on my windows under the curtains to protect from UV exposure. I loved these curtains. They were the perfect color and looked so very fantastic in my industrial decor living room. Today, as I was leaving in my car and looked at the curtains from the outside, I noticed that each edge of the two curtains which was folded back (in their natural hanging way) was faded. Thinking it must be an optical illusion of the windows, I went inside to investigate further. Yes..they are faded from a lovely grey to a hideous pinky-purply hue. They have only been up a few months. And this windows does not even get direct sun. So very disappointed. Wasted money and so much time. They are coming down and into the trash -- or to be used as painting drop cloths. Do not even think of buying these without some serious light protection to avoid any UV rays at all from hitting them. :( I will add a photo as soon as I get one.
