I am very disappointed in this item. I'm not certain what they mean by "certified international Talavera"- apart from the design of the plates, perhaps. But this is essentially a heavy duty plastic plate made in China. I understood that they could not truly be Talavera plates, since Talavera can get very pricey in the United States, but I at least expected a more industrial ceramic reproduction made in Mexico. So, essentially this is a cultural appropriation- that's the politically correct way of saying that someone stole the design from the culture, is making a profit, and is giving nothing back to the culture or artisans who made the original design. I should have made the 30 mile trip to downtown Los Angeles and picked up $60 worth of Mexican ceramic plates from Olvera Street. I normally do not buy anything, but books online for this reason. It is really impossible to tell what quality something will be, and because of the hassle of sending it back. I will hold on to it and consider it a costly lesson. I don't expect to be buying from Great Offer Stock again.

The design is nice. When I ordered the plates, I didn’t realize that they were made of plastic. It’s my fault for not looking into it. I should have known based on the price. Just beware, you are not supposed to use them in the microwave now in the bottom shelf of the dishwasher.

Pretty BUT they are not recommended for microwave and recommended loading in top of dishwasher. Not practical. Even these recommendations are minuscule and same color (white) as bottom of plate.
