I love this rug. The primary color is a warm, rustyish orange, so although it is orange and does pop, it isn't garish. The complementary colors in the design make it work with other colors in a room, the design provides more visual interest than does a solid colored rug, and it looks good in a large or small room because it isn't too busy. Added to the other pluses, this rug is reversible.
This is a 100% wool flatweave so it is thin and a little scratchy. That's okay with me because we lounge on our furniture and large floor pillows anyway.
A pad is required to prolong the life of the rug, hold it in place, and if the pad is a thicker one, to add a little more of a cushiony feel under foot.
I prefer wool flatweaves in most of my home because they look nice, do not shed much, fit under doors and furniture nicely, can be layered with other throw/area rugs and floor pillows, and heavy furniture sitting on them does not leave deep, squished marks. They also do not have yucky latex glues on their backs, which limits the life of rugs as the glues tend to turn yellow, and some even breakdown into a powdery residue, which means the tops of the rugs are not going to hold and the backs look like something urinated all over them.
I wish this rug came in 3'x5' and runner sizes, too.
