A sunscreen that combines UVA and UVB protection in an elegant matte finish that is non-comedogenic, allergy tested, and dermatologist tested. Sheer, PABA-free, and fragrance-free for all skin types.APPLICATION:
Apply Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50 every morning, or 30 minutes before sun exposure. When out in the sun, reapply Sun Shield every 2 hours and after towel drying, swimming and perspiring.

I’ve been using Obagi Matte Sun Shield purchased from my dermatologist for years, so am very familiar with every aspect of the product: feel, smell, and how it looks after applied. The feel is similar tho not quite as thick. The smell is no where close to the smell of the original, and it leaves a sheen on your skin, not the matte finish. That much I can say with confidence, but if that much is wrong, is it even SPF 50? I hope so as I have had skin cancer, including on my face. The tube appearance on the front is nearly identical (I still have my last tube, thankfully, for comparison). The tubes on the back are slightly different. The genuine tube from my dermatologist is on the left. Note the top line: “Sun Shield Broad Spectrum SPF Matte”. The fake on the right leaves off the word “Matte”. Next note the stamp on the genuine tube “recommended Skin Cancer Foundation Daily use”. The fake tube has left this stamp out completely. The active ingredients are different. Original: Octinoxate 7.5%, Zinc Oxide 10.5%. Fake: Homosalate 10%, Octisalate 5%, and Zinc Oxide 16.5%. (Note the two “Octi’s” are even spelled differently.) Inactive ingredients are so different as to not even be comparable, except that water is the 2nd to last inactive ingredient in a list of about 25 ingredients in the original, and the first ingredient listed in the fake. I should have known better. Great Offer Stock or not, the price was just too good to be true. This was my first ever purchase from greatofferstock.com and I’m seriously disappointed!!

This obagi I got is not a matte sunscreen.
It’s not the matte obagi sunscreen. It leaves a sheen behind. I tested it against my tube that I already have from Dr office. Don’t like it .

Best Sunscreen Product Available
I love the sun protection with Obagi Sun Shield. Exercise and sweat does not stop its protection. The best part is that it does not make my eyes water if my face sweats when out in the hot sun. I have tried all brands of sunscreen and this product is easy to apply and provides the best sun protection for my skin.

Loyal users of this product should know that it has undergone a formula change!!!!! Please compare active ingredients—they are now different than the product you have been using. It has made a noticeable difference in the consistency of this product, and not in a good way. The product goes on very heavy, very white, and very greasy. For a product that is marketed as being “matte,” it no longer gives a matte finish as it used to. Do not waste your money on three tubes before discovering this, like I did. If you use this product for the matte feel, find something else unless and until they bring back the old formulation.

I am incredibly disappointed that Obagi changed the formula for this sunscreen without notifying customers or listing it on the package. I have been buying for 8 years and loved it, but the new formula is greasy and heavy. It it NOT MATTE as it used to be, light and creamy without a shine. Instead it is like Nuetrogena, which is greasy. I called them to complain and they said they were sorry, but would not refund my money. I will never buy from Obagi again!
