    I am almost retirement age, but remember growing up with fitted bottom sheets and always assumed that all sheet sets came that way. Somewhere through the years, they must have been stopped being made, because I have searched for many years in stores and online, but have been unable to find them in any fabric, at any price. They just seemed to disappear, and it must have been quite a while ago, because many adult friends have never even heard of them. When you are used to them - they make it so much easier to make the bed as you don't have to lift the mattress to tuck in a flat sheet at the bottom, and they do not come pulled out or 'undone' the way flat sheets can - you really miss them. The only solution I could think of was to make them, and it's much easier than it may sound. Simply fold a flat sheet in half longways - and cut a curve along the bottom corners, actually cutting the corners off, with the remaining curved edge about 8" to 10" from the end of the bottom sheet. How high up you cut depends on the thickness of your mattress - (remembering that you only need the bottom edge a few inches longer than the thickness of your mattress to have enough to tuck in (much less tuck-in fabric is needed than when using a flat sheet). I have also just laid out the flat sheet over the mattress with the 'good' side down, and with the bottom of the sheet just over the bottom of the mattress to allow for 'tuck-in'; line up the bottom and side of each corner, pin the excess corner to be snug on the side of the mattress, curve the bottom corners. Fold about 1/2" to 3/4" under twice along the curved edge, and sew in 1/2" to 3/4" elastic, stretching the elastic as you sew to make it gather.

    Microfiber is a synthetic - 100% polyester. I have never run across microfiber that feels like suede, but have found that it usually with brushed cotton sheets.Usually microfiber sheets are much less expensive than even low thread count cotton or blends, and like any product, the quality can differ, but I have never come across a really bad set of microfiber sheets, even the least expensive at the big WM stores. I would think that extremely cheap microfiber sheets could be thinner, (the material itself is the same) just as very inexpensive cotton with very low thread counts can be thin and pill. And microfiber does not come by thread count or so many of the choices available in cotton, blends and other fabrics. I have always been a big fan of natural fabrics because they breath, allowing air circulation which polyester does not. HOWEVER, I have become a big fan of microfiber sheets - they are not "hot" as I had thought they would be before trying them. They usually have a very nice sheen, and are very comfortable to sleep on and under, do not wrinkle and launder well. I am very hot natured and live in the coastal south, yet I have found that microfiber sheets are just as comfortable as cotton sheets, even with our heat and humidity. Considering the ease of care and the other benefits, especially the very low prices compared to other fabrics, there isn't much of a choice when I purchase sheets. They are NOT the same as 1,000 thread count Egyptian cotton, but you don't have to spend upwards of $***. for a set of microfiber sheets. I still try to avoid polyester in clothing, especially sleepwear, but for sheets I am a BIG FAN.

    Sorry, but I forgot to mention that although I have seldom (if ever) seen the wrong answer from Great Offer Stock in response to a question, (and they consistently have some of the best customer service reps I have ever found), but their answer to this question was way off. Microfiber sheets are NOT dense or plush - they are just the opposite (see my prior answer to this question for all the details). Microfiber and fleece are both polyester, but microfiber is very lightweight, smooth and usually has a nice sheen. It could be that the Great Offer Stock response confused fleece sheets with microfiber sheets. Fleece is also polyester, but unlike microfiber, fleece is thick, fluffy and has an obvious long nap. Many blankets are made of fleece, and fleece sheets are wonderful and cozy, but only in cold climates during cold cold weather. Despite being polyester, microfiber sheets are great in hot climates as they are light and cool.
