I have decided that there is no way to accurately rate sheets. One person's soft is another person's flimsy. One person's smooth is another person's strong material. Why is it so complicated?
I go by when you bought sheets. (period) they were good quality and lasted for years. Now in our multi choice world I, the consumer, am left frustrated & baffled most of the time. I still have two pairs of pillow cases from long ago which I will give to a museum when I die just so that people in the present & future will truly know what sheets are/were. They were/are 1) soft, 2) smooth, 3) many years old, 4) unfaded/same color as when I purchased them AND, 5) UNWRINKLED. Yes really that means NO wrinkles. A wrinkled sheet by any other name, pima, sleep philosophy, etc is a Wrinkled sheet!!!The fabric is wrinkled from within not just crumpled up. So I say some what tongue in cheek that these sheets are soft, somewhat flimsy, are a good size to fit my bed, and are WRINKLED, are a nice color, and reasonable in price. I will keep them because they are better than any other modern sheet I have seen. I will let you know when my old pillowcases are donated to the museum.
