This shower bench is large, very sturdy and comfortable which is perfect for my slightly over-sized husband who prefers to sit down and wash his feet in the shower. After 7 months of daily use, the visible finish is still in good shape. I gave it a minimal touch up with a stain touch up pen a couple months ago. We squeegee the flat surface after every use. After a month or two of daily use, I inspected the underside of the bench and noticed mold beginning to grow. The bench does not appear to have any protective finish on the underside. My plan at that time was to scrub it clean and apply a protective coating to the underside of the bench. Unfortunately, I did not get around to doing it and after 7 months of use, the top side still looks pretty good. The bottom shelf has an area near a joint that has cracked open a bit and a white crystal type substance is collecting. The (unsealed) underneath has numerous areas of black discoloration from mold and the bottom of the feet is pretty much coated in mold. I was able to scrub it clean but the black stains are still there and I am sure will be covered in mold again if left untreated. If you need a sturdy bench to sit on outside of the shower, I would highly recommend this bench. If you need a bench to leave in your shower, I recommend putting a water resistant finish on the underside of the wood before first use. I think mold on the bottom of the feet will be a constant issue to keep up with no matter what type of bench you purchase.

This rubber wood bench looks like a piece of art. It adds beauty and function to my guest bath. Well made with a high gloss finish. I chose not to use mine in the shower as from experience I feel teak wood holds up better when used daily in the shower. I like the lower shelf for storage. Great place for your slippers when you get out of the shower.

Exactly what we were looking for. Perfect addition to our new shower, very sturdy and attractive. So far, after having it in shower for a month, no damage from water but I do dry it off every day. Highly recommend.

Finish started to flake off after less then 2 weeks use, contacted Oceanstar and they replaced it, did not put new bench in shower afraid we might have same problem again. Use new one to sit down and put on and remove shoes.

I purchased this bench for use in the shower. On the instructions inside the box, it says not to use it in high-moisture areas, but I did place it in the shower. After just a couple of months of light use, the stain started coming off the wood. I'm not sure this was designed to use in the shower, which is disappointing, considering the cost of the item.
