Bought the floor lamp and have same issue with the metal it is made out of. It is a cheap hollow bendable metal. Don't let kids touch that bird or it might break off. Pretty though.
If you love having broken Styrofoam pieces everywhere, these are the lamps for you. Actually, they are very nice lamps, and I like them a lot. It would have been great if they could package them in some other way though. That is what prevented me from giving 5 stars. Also, as at least one other reviewer noted, the lamp shades are quite wide, so if you need to put these lamps on a small table near a wall, you would probably need to swap out the shades. The center point of the lamp will need to be at least 10" from the wall.
I love this lamp. It's is just what I was looking for. What you see is what you get.
Too short to be a table lamp in my opinion, but it fits in a bookshelf perfectly. The base of the lamp is much more gray than in the pic and the shade has more brown and some metallic tones in it. It's very attractive.
