If I could give 4.5 stars I would have. The assembly was not overly challenging for one person. I did not notice the screws used on the table top are visible. I looked in the packaging to see if there were small wooden plugs to hide the screw heads. There weren't any. I'm still pleased with the table.

I don't think that it will scratch easily, but it is not indestructible. Our little dog jumps off and on all the time and leaves no scratches from her nails. We have placed glasses on it without coasters and have seen no marks. I use a little furniture polish on it to keep it new looking.

It's real! This table is heavy and sturdy. My 5 year old does acrobatics on it daily. Just needed to tighten the hardware a bit. The boards aren't totally level on top, but that doesn't cause a problem with setting drinks down or anything. It does interfere with writing or coloring, but we just put a magazine under the paper. I've been amazed at the quality for the price! It goes well with a custom cabinet we had made.
