You should be able to see very dark navy in the black, just as the color of indigo. The Indigo Bunting bird has some navy black feathers, especially visible at the wings. My opinion is that if you want black you should select a different table

This table is a very dark blue almost ink color. In low light it would appear black, but in bright light you will be able to see the blue under tone.

The legs are all in one. More of a paint dipped effect. You could certainly saw them off or paint a different color on the wood parts.

I ordered two and the light wood was a bit (not a lot) different. I just removed that the light wood and left the table all yellow and liked the shorter height better than before.
