Yes it can. The back attaches directly to the stool and bolts onto the side. Just leave it off. Will still swivel and will not be visible.

You can skip putting them on but there are 4 pre-drilled holes where the screws would go, to hold the back on, that will show a little bit. I don't think that would matter but it depends on how picky you are.

Another customer said her 260# husband had no trouble. I weight 185 and they are fine for me. I could not find any weight capacity given in information on Great Offer Stock. Guess you'll have to research that one.

I have a friend who currently weighs 347 # and the chairs have no problem holding him. His only comment is the seat is not quite wide enough for perfect comfort.... there is some overhang.... he seems to like them though .... says they feel sturdy.

If you are referring to the two pictures of the swatches, the first one represents the colors of my chairs best. I think the first one is just more magnified thus the colors are clearer.

There's probably greater demand for 24" stools as compared to 30". Supply and demand drive pricing. I am very satisfied with my 24" stools. I use them daily and they have held up well. I would buy them again, as well as recommend them to anyone.

It would be very easy to cover the seat cushion with vinyl to use outdoors. I covered my cushions with a tapestry fabric. It was very easy to do using a staple gun and they look great.
