Gorgeous, but some has flaws to work with
The "shrinkable tube", as described in the installation manual, is a chrome sleeve that goes over the threaded nipple that attaches to the ceiling hardware. It is not shrinkable at all. It is too long and will not allow you to attach the chain's hanger bolt that screws into it. So do not use it. Also, the bulb bases are crooked and wobbly. I tried to straighten them by tightening the screws around the threaded base but it is impossible. The ring to which the electrical wires are attached twirls loosely up the threaded bulb base and the nut below it does not help keep it in place. This is a serious weak point of this chandelier. As a result, the shades and bulbs look crooked. Also, I called greatofferstock.com before purchasing this to ask if I could install this chandelier without the shades. They told me "yes." What they did not tell me, and what is not shown in the product photo, is that this particular chandelier has plastic rings that screw onto the top of the candelabra bases. This plastic ring supports the shade. If I remove the shades, the plastic rings would show as well as about 1/2 inch of the plastic bulb sink which, of course, looks unsightly on such a beautiful chrome chandelier. Other chandeliers don't have rings to support the shades. The bulb base cover of other chandeliers covers 100% of the bulb base because they attach the shades to the bulb with shade clips instead. There were two small dents on the chrome canopy and another on the bottom of the lamp body. The lamp body also had some minor "pock" marks that you can see when up close to it. I did not return this chandelier because I did not want to deal with repacking all the pieces. It would have been impossible to repackage each piece in the same way and location I received it in the tightly packaged box. I am keeping it because I love the design of this chandelier but I would not buy it again if I had to. I would give the design five stars, but am taking off one star for the dents on the canopy and lamp body, and taking off another star for the crooked bulb bases that will not stay adjusted straight.
