This is really a 3 1/2 star review. For the price, the Bonavita is slightly disappointing. While it makes really good coffee if you have good beans, it seems somewhat cheaply made. The carafe keeps coffee quite warm for about 2 hours but not piping hot. All in all, not sure I would purchase it again.

Coffee is hotter I bought this because my husband complains that his coffee is never hot enough for him (I thought it was fine). This coffeemaker definitely makes hotter coffee. It is very simply to use but I would suggest unplugging it when not in use because the "on" button is very sensitive and will go on if you bump it. I like the carafe but for one exception; I usually make just enough coffee for 1-2 cups. You can't pour the coffee out of the carafe without spilling without putting the cover on. Not a big deal but a little annoying.

Makes the best coffee ever and super simple to use I was looking for a BPA-free coffee maker with a simple design that makes great coffee and man I found it. Good tasting coffee, but awkward to use The coffee does taste mellower and richer than our previous drip coffee maker. A far superior taste. On the other hand there are a number of features which make it cumbersome and labor intensive to use: The cord is quite short. Filling the carafe is difficult as it drips so one needs a secondary pitcher to refill. When the coffee is done, one must put the dripping filter compartment on a plate, otherwise it will drip coffee. It only makes 40oz of coffee. The carafe top does not go on easy. On the other hand, the carafe does keep the coffee warmer longer without the need of a secondary heater. The operation is either on or off, easier for many people, but without any frills.

Consistently excellent drip coffee We bought this coffee maker after a great deal of research into home brewers. We were looking for an SCAA certified model that would fit in with our modern kitchen decor and wouldn't break the bank. This brewer delivers consistent batches of coffee provided you "dial in" your coffee to water ratio to your taste. Small gripe: the carafe does not drain completely even when fully inverted because of a small metal lip on the inner edge. I'm sure this was a design constraint of the double wall insulated carafe, but it's a little annoying when trying to get out the last 1-2 ounces of coffee and when washing. Nonetheless, this is an excellent brewer and we appreciate how the carafe keeps our coffee piping hot for 1-1.5 hours without using a burner. Highly recommended.

Perfect Coffee This little gem is fast and makes great coffee. Easy to use, stylish and did I mention that it makes great coffee. Now for the downside. 8 cups, need I say more. We downsized from a 12 cup pot and really miss those extra cups. The only other issue is the basket, which becomes a spare part when the coffee is done. I keep a small bowl by the pot to hold the basket when it is not needed. Overall this is the best coffee pot I've ever owned.
