How to Clean Glass Coffee Pots
- Vinegar
- Sponge
- Dish detergent
- Warm water
Cleaning Coffee Pots:
Make sure the pot has cooled.
Don’t fill a hot glass coffee pot with cold water or you’ll risk cracking it. Rinse out any grounds and liquid from the pot.
Remove coffee stains.
If the glass pot has heavy residual coffee stains, fill it with a solution of equal parts vinegar and water. Allow it to soak for 15 to 20 minutes before washing. There are also commercial coffee pot cleaners designed specifically to lift away stains. If the pot was recently washed and doesn’t have any stains, you can skip this step.
Remove the coffee pot lid, if it is removable.
Put a dab of dish detergent on your sponge and use warm water to wash the coffee pot lid. Set it in a dish drain or on a paper towel to dry.
Dump out the vinegar-water solution and rinse.
Scrub the inside of the carafe with the sponge and dish detergent. Thoroughly wash the interior bottom and sides of the pot. Don’t forget to wash the exterior as well.
Thoroughly rinse out all suds with warm or cool water.
Make sure that there is no residual detergent to end up in your morning cup of coffee.
Set it upside down to dry.
You can also hand dry with a paper towel or dish towel.
- Wash all the parts of your automatic coffee maker at the same time as your carafe, including the filter and filter basket.
- Avoid using steel wool or other harsh abrasives to clean the glass pot.
- Unplug your electric coffeemaker before cleaning the main structure and do not submerge the electric coffee maker under water.
