This tablet features a Samsung Exynos 7870 chipset, which utilizes an octa-core processor clocked at speeds up to 1.6 GHz. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. It's also equipped with a microSD slot that supports microSDXC cards up to 2TB. For high-speed Internet connectivity, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi is built-in. Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity is also integrated for pairing with Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as select headphones and accessories.

This Samsung Galaxy Tab A houses a 10.1" capacitive touchscreen display with a WUXGA 1920 x 1080 screen resolution for viewing detailed high-definition content. The onboard front facing 2-megapixel and rear 8-megapixel cameras allow you take pictures of yourself and the world around you as well as making video calls over your Wi-Fi network.

A micro-USB 2.0 interface is available for mass storage connections and charging the device; a USB cable and charger are included. The internal 7300mAh battery is designed to offer hours of enjoyment before recharging is needed. The Galaxy Tab A comes with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, which delivers fluid and intuitive multi-touch navigation. The Tab A also supports multitasking tools, such as side-by-side application use.

    I want to address an issue another reviewer mentioned. They described their tablet as burning out in a few days. All tablets and or smart phones can go into what I call a sleep mode once in a while. Tablets are simply computers and need to be rebooted on occasion, but hardly ever. If your tablet (or phone) won't turn on and seems to be dead first be sure it has been charged and then hold down both the power and home buttons at the same time till the tablet restarts or reboots just as a computer would. Should take anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute so be patient. When it begins to restart let up on the buttons. (Sometimes it will be the power button and volume down button that needs to be held) A wise man from Samsung taught me this trick. It has worked like a charm every time and it's helped a few of my friends also who thought their devices were done. On to why this tablet is so awesome! Put it in a case with a stand and you have a portable entertainment center with an excellent resolution widescreen. Email or Skype your friends and kids teachers. Pay your bills, do your banking, play games galore from Play Store, catch up on news, use as a TV remote, listen to music (use Bluetooth speaker for music as the speakers on tablets are mostly for convenience and are mediocre) etc....I've had 5 different Samsung Tablets and can't remember what I did without them! I've kept them all so I have an internet device to use in each room.

But I am very disappointed with the Samsung product and the way they are handling this ongoing ordeal. bottom line is I had my Samsung Galaxy Tab A Sm-T580 Tablet for 15 days before the (Tablet) burnt out and will not work. So you can just imagine how frustrated I am.

    Received my tablet but to my surprise when I went to plug it in it was a European plug! No instructions in English and when I turned in the tablet it said welcome in some foreign language. Now I have to drive to the ups store to send it back, then wait for them to get it before they will send me out a new one even though it was their error.     It's hard to find an octacore processor with this size for this price. I also own a three year old Samsung Tab S 8 inch. The screen quality of the S series is far superior.....but only in side by side comparison. However, in my opinion it's not worth twice the price. If you are not overly demanding and don't have deep pockets and enjoy a bigger screen......Buy the Tab A.
