I probably shouldn't be answering this as I'm still just considering purchasing them, however, I had the same question and believe the answer to be that they're for a standard, not a queen or king, sized pillow. I based this on the measurement of the item as well as one of the other reviewers who said they had to use three of them, which would be what a standard pillow on a king size bed would take if you want it to cover the entire width of the mattress. Hope this helps, wouldn't want to lead you astray.
