Down and feather-filled products are packed tightly during shipping. Upon receipt, remove them from their packaging, fluff gently, and allow several hours to recover their full loft. In addition, being sealed in plastic packaging sometimes causes the scent of these natural products to concentrate to a disagreeable level. A few hours of airing usually removes the odor.

We recommend that this comforter is fluffed at least once a week to maintain down distribution.

    I was cold last winter with my down comforter from Cuddledown, even had to layer other blankets on top and so decided to get a winter weight down and reserve the other one for my summer weight. This had good reviews so I ordered. I received it quickly, I gave it a few shakes and it immediately lofted high and is impressively soft and fluffy. It's so light you feel like you have almost nothing on top of you. i am confident it will be extra warm as it claims. A similar 800 fill power down comforter through many other websites is $800-$1,200. My only pause, it is baffle-box design which means it has walls in each box to allow down to loft, but not every box is completely stitched through, as a "box stitch design" would do. Because of this there is some risk of the down shifting between boxes. If it shifts around, It's next to impossible to get down back where you want it to be. I think I will keep it despite this. Bring the cold weather on, it'll be hard to get out of a cozy bed with this down comforter.

This is a quality item that seems like it will hold up for a very long time, It has very nice even distribution of down and has fluffed up quite nicely from the original packaging.       Hello karenval, the Eddie Bauer Comforter fill Power of 800 is a higher quality down. And, has been processed and washed in the U.S., the down is usually European Down from Poland but can be from other countries as well. The Federal Government, has specific guidelines when it comes to how much down can be contained within a bedding product. The rule from the Federal Trade Commission states, "that if the law label on an item contains 'down' - then the item must contain a minimum of 75% down clusters. The remaining content can be an assortment of down fibers and small feathers." Short of hand tweezing out loose fibers and small feathers, it is impossible to have a 100% down anything. So when bedding has the typical 75% down content, the remaining 25% is typically comprised of a mixture of the following: Addditional down clusters, Loose down fibers (the parts that break off from the down cluster) and Small feathers (6 CM or smaller).
