Fall is the season that can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned. Autumn’s perfect temperatures and vibrant colors have a special place in my heart. Like clockwork, the first fall breeze of the year makes me want to bake, reorganize my house, and decorate. Since I’m a sucker for a festive front porch, here are my three tips on decorating your porch for fall.
Hang a Wreath
Is a front porch completely decorated without a wreath? Is fall even real without pumpkin-spiced everything and infinity scarves? These are the questions that keep me up at night. I love a full, traditional wreath on my front door. Think red, orange, and yellow foliage dressed up with some pinecones and little gourds. If you’re less traditional, go floral with bright chrysanthemums.
Light It Up
In my humble opinion, there’s no reason to wait for Christmas to light up my home. Orange string lights, classic lanterns, and battery-operated candles add a warm, intimate glow to your porch. I usually hang string lights around my doorframe, and sometimes, if I’m feeling extra crafty, I’ll put some battery-operated candles in mason jars for a homey feel.
Place Pumpkins
For the love of all things fall, put a pumpkin on your porch! You don’t have to carve it or paint it to bring fall to your home. I did nothing to my pumpkin this year; I just let it sit on the front porch and look pretty all by itself. If I feel like going the extra mile, I place my pumpkin on top of a hay bale and throw some gourds in the mix.
