The product description shows this table arrives in 2 boxes with assembly required. I received one box (over 100 lbs), with 2 of the legs broken through the cardboard. Maybe it was cheaper to ship it in one box, or maybe they were trying to make it more convenient for the customer, but who knows. When I opened the box I found the table was attached by the feet to a piece of plywood with metal straps, but all the screws and straps gave way in transit. It appeared the top had broken apart from the legs but I couldn't tell for sure whether it was supposed to be fully assembled. I found some bent screws and a wrench (??) in the box with no instructions, leaving me very confused.
I contacted Overstock's live chat and was very disappointed with the service (or lack thereof) that I received. He couldn't tell me if there should be any instructions and said he would order me assembly directions (3-5 days by mail) and that would show if I was missing any parts, which I could call back and request with another 3-5 day wait. My husband got very frustrated and just attached the top with screws we had on hand. It was difficult since there wasn't enough room for the drill to fit based on the design so we had to use a very short screwdriver.
A few days later I got an email from a girl stating that she was sending me assembly instructions in the attachment. Lo and behold there was nothing attached! The next day I received them with no apology and as we suspected they were completely useless. Still have no idea why they included a wrench with the table.
So overall I would rate the table a 4 since it is very sturdy and unique. However the top is not level (pieced together like a whiskey barrel) and there is green and yellow paint added to give it a rustic look. I probably still would have ordered it but would have appreciated a more detailed and accurate description.
I rate both the shipping and customer service I received one star based on my comments above. Overall we are happy with this coffee table especially since we are limited in size due to the shape of our sectional, but the service left something to be desired.
