is a nice looking set but when it came the bowels were broken my husband glued them back together but a disappointment for a Christmas gift

This calligraphy set is pretty and nice to look at. I just wish that it came with some sort of instructions.

The only reason that I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars is because it is much smaller that I thought it would be. The Set, though, is really beautiful! It's a beautiful gift for someone, with an attractive case, really nice brushes, and charming pottery pieces.

This is a pretty nice little set. It was wrapped up in 3 boxes with fragile all over it, but it still came with a broekn piece.

This set is not intended as a course in Chinese calligraphy, but includes only the tools and materials necessary - with the exception of paper, which is not included. Paper used for Chinese and Japanese calligraphy may be purchased from most art supply stores. The list of items included in this set is very specific and does not include an instruction manual. If you're unfamiliar with Chinese (or Japanese) calligraphy, it would be necessary to purchase an instruction book. Many are available at various price points and may be purchased from any large bookseller. This is a nice, reasonably priced set that would make an excellent gift with the inclusion of an instruction book and paper.

I've had calligraphy sets before that were pretty good but this one is slightly bigger and slightly better quality. A great buy.

WELL, UNLESS YOU ARE AN EXPERT DON'T BUY IT. THERE ARE NO DIRECTIONS. THERE IS NOTHING TO HELP GET YOU STARTED. PLUS, ONE OF THE ITEMS WAS BROKE. I JUST GLUED IT BACK TOGETHER, NOTHING MAJOR. IT'S USED AS DECOR. IT'S IS PRETTY AND FOR THE PRICE I CAN'T COMPLAIN TO MUCH.

I'm not sure exactly what I expected, but this was not it. Although no size was actually indicated on Overstocks, I somehow expected the set to be larger. It is actually tiny. I bought it as a gift for a friend and was so embarrassed by its appearance, I threw it away.

I don't like this at all. Bought two of them for gifts for kids. There are no instructions and what is written on the box (very little) is all in some oriental language. The only good part about it is the container which looks very rich. Outside of this, it is useless.
