Who would've thought seat belt material would look and feel so luxurious? The body of the bag feels satiny and the "ruffles" feel like faille. Pretty cool! The handle is tightly braided, and the hardware is a nicely designed and unobtrusive rectangular silver-colored ring. The strap isn't detachable, but fits easily over the shoulder and the bag tucks under my arm very comfortably, unlike many evening bags whose long straps have the bag bouncing off my hip, or lower! Plus, the strap attaches to the body of the bag, which you can most appreciate if you've ever had a magnetic clasp open and spill all the contents of your bag on the floor, while the bag dangles from the flimsy strap attached to the flap. And unlike many evening bags, it has a top zipper for security. I added shoe clips to the flap for some added sparkle. It's lined with black satin and has both an interior zipper pocket and a slip pocket. Plus it's roomy and flexible if you tend to jam too much stuff in, like I do--iPhone 6s, small brush (!) overstuffed makeup case, wedding invite and card, keys, tissues, glasses, medicine, ID, cash...tight, but it all fit. Plus, I got to feel all happy that I'd bought something that had been recycled, from a fair-trade company. It was my most satisfying purchase of the season.
