If a passion for creating can be passed from generation to generation, then Kadek Hendra is a happy example. As a young man, he learned the art of jewelry making from his grandfather. But it wasn't until he was in college that he realized that his true passion was creating beautiful things. As the principal designer of 925 Direct, Kadek works out of a simple studio situated in a village in his native Bali, Indonesia. Bali itself plays a major role in his work as he draws inspiration from the abundant nature all around him, as well as providing most of the materials needed for his designs. The village also plays a key role. 925 Direct employs many people from the village, teaching them skills and paying them a fair wage. The success of the company also allows 925 Direct to support the local village school. As for Kadek, he just wants to continue making jewelry that people are happy to wear.
