Bought this reel for my son. An avid musky fisherman he really like the quality built into the Okuma reels.
Read MoreA low profile line counter reel has been needed in the fishing world for a long time. I prefer spinning reels for spoon jigging but not being able to know the depth of the spoon has been a problem for all of us. I use to use a black marker and mark my line every 10 feet and then count it down. Okuma has finally seen the light and built a line counter that we can jig with! I have almost a dozen Okuma line counter trolling reels so I wasn't worried about spending my money on a "new type" of reel. The quality is there , the weight is light enough to use all day and the bait clicker is louder than any of my 11 trolling reels, BUT I do have 1 fault with the design. The reel needs a "grip pad" on top of the frame for your thumb to rest on. It is very smooth and slick and palming the reel as you do when holding the reel / rod with one hand leaves you without enough control when you set the hook on a monster. I have relatively small hands and it would be possible to lose my grip and lose the reel / rod to a hard hitting fish.
