The extensions work great with the gate for what we needed.

This is my third purchase of this type of Carlson Walk-Through Pet Gate. It is the only kind of pet gate which makes sense to use in my home, since I have two cats and a large dog. I leave open the small door to allow the cats to come and go as they please and the dog is barred from entering rooms which are off-limits. It's to assemble and operate and it stays in place. It's great!
I brought this gate because my dog jumps over regular sized gates. I finally found one that he could not jump thru and the pet gate is perfect. Great value
