This works out well for me. Looks nice for sitting out and I like having the recycle and separate trash options. I also like the slider that enables you to have the lid stay up if needed. The only small complaint I have is the recycle side is a little small which could be an issue if you have a family but as a single person it isn't so bad. If you are good about recycling it will fill up fast.

I thought it would be bigger, you need special trash bags. I am not sure how i feel...

I use the large side for recyclables and the small side for trash. Like the hands free ability to open the can and the soft close.

I was worried because the actual space for trash seemed small. However, it works great. I love this trashcan.

I have limited space so this 2 in 1 trash can is the perfect size for a narrow space. I didn't have room for 2 receptacles so my bottles and recyclables were always exposed in a pile next to my old trash can. With this trash can, everything is nicely organized with no one tripping over stuff. I considered the sensor / motion activated ones but decided it really wasn't necessary and would cause me more of a headache changing batteries or being limited to where I place it based on outlets. I am fully capable of using my feet to open the lid; I consider it excercise. The bags can be costly; look for bulk deals [...]. They don't fit as good but you can also use regular talk kitchen bags.

this company knows exactly what they are doing. This trash can, for what it is, is absolutely beautiful and well made! It even comes with perfectly sized trial trash bags..that i will no doubt continue to purchase, because, who doesn't love a perfectly sized trash bag! I try to buy as many of this company's products as I can! Their stuff is certainly more money than you need to spend on an item, but once you get it, you understand why!

This is a fine piece with high quality and great design but the compartments are small so it is less than perfect for function and it is very very pricey

This is very nice trash can but the compartment for recycle is way to small to hold even a two day worth of recycle that a family of 4 is generating.

I really like Simple Human products. I got this split can to replace the single bin system I had before. I use the big side for bulkier hard item recycling (like glass and aluminum) and the small side for food scraps since we can now recycle organics! (Yay!) I love it. It keeps my kitchen looking tidy and it has wheels to make it easy to move around the kitchen. I can prop the organics section open next to me when I'm prepping to cook. My only criticism is I do wish the space between the two compartments were a little wider to make it easier to pull out the heavy recycling bin when it gets full.

This is an excellent product. I am so happy that I purchased it. Looks great, and works very well.

The recycler trash can is great for a single person. It would never be enough room for a couple or family.

I was afraid to tell my husband how much this trash can cost, but over time he came to realize how much better it was than any other we've had or any other we've seen around. Extremely functional and still looks nice years later.

I debated getting this but for me it works great. For a large family this trashcan may be a little small. I use the smaller, blue, 'recycle' side for my trash and the larger bin to recycle paper. Being just one person, I found I didn't create all that much garbage. In my old bin I might have tossed out around 70% paper that could (maybe) be recycled with 30% true trash. Now, right away, I can devide what I want to throw away and what should be separated. I no longer have empty boxes and other papers sitting next to the garbage waiting to be recycled. This new can help's to keep the trash area neat and clean. If used one of the two openings for plastics and glass, I feel it would get filled up way too fast. For one person, I still find I need the largest bin to be for plastics and glass so I store that somewhere else. The can itself has weight to it but it isn't too heavy either. It doesn't take fingerprints so it looks nice and is easy to keep clean. The footpad opens it easily and the top comes down slowly as it closes so it never slams shut. If you want to keep the lid open there's a little switch for that too which can be convenient. I was three for four person family I don't think I'd be happy with this purchase because I feel it would get filled up way too quickly but for one or two people I think it's great.

I bought a single Simplehuman trashcan for my kitchen 5 years ago and it still works as smoothly and looks as good as the day I got it. The local very busy coffee stand also has had one at least that long and the same goes for that one- the can is opened I would imagine a hundred times a day. I bought my sister and my son the recycler style and they both use the larger side to recycle, the smaller size for trash. Bags are not that expensive and great quality. If you don't have room for a trash compactor this is your can.

This is just too small. The smaller side is really tiny. I have purchased bags at Lowes that work with a rubberband to secure the bag around the edge of the plastic liner. I would not buy this again due to the smallness.

I have seen this can highly recommended on various websites. I hate the pileup of recycling items all over my counter or floor, so an integrated can for garbage and recycling sounds great. The garbage can is beautiful. It looks sleek and clean, the step opener is nice and simple and it has a little lock to hold it open. However, the configuration didn't work for me. I am used to a 13 gallon kitchen garbage. The garbage side is smaller than 13 gallons. Maybe 10-11. So you actually have less garbage space than before. We scrape our plates into the garbage, which is difficult to do without getting some garbage into the recycling side. Lastly, this comes with 2 sizes of liners made by Simple Human, so I guess you are stuck buying their liners since it doesn't accommodate regular trash bags. I really wanted to like this garbage can. It's beautiful and the idea is great. The execution just didn't work for me. I returned it to m. I did unpack it and remove manufacturers labels and try it out for a day. I called customer service and asked if I could return it in new condition but brand new. She said to send it back and they will determine upon receipt how much credit I receive. Which is kind of annoying not to know how much I will get back. But I'm not going to keep a $170 can that doesn't work for me, so I'm hoping for the best.

So far so good. A little disappointed due to a little dent on the top of the lid and finding out that you have to buy the bags that fit correctly though simplehuman, had I read that I would not of bought it.
