We haven't yet installed this and we had a long debate about whether to return it. It was finally the price versus other products we've found online that made up our minds for us.
The construction is fine. The keys work.
The problem is that the slot that your deliveryperson uses to deposit your mail is maybe 1 1/2 inches high. I understand that's to keep people from putting their arms in to grab stuff, but it is problematic.
Big flat envelopes will work fine. For us, it would probably hold 10 days worth of normal mail. But we order a lot of stuff online. Our rural-delivery mail folks will still be bringing most boxes up to the house (which they're not supposed to do, but they do and we love them for it).
Depending on how your check maker packages them, your mailperson may not be able to get a box of checks into this thing. The outgoing mail area is ginormous.
My hubbie is thinking about prying the rivets from the outgoing mail area and making it smaller. Since it is located on a relatively well-travelled road, we don't think our local mail thieves will bother with wedging their arms in to get stuff -- they're more the grab-and-go type opportunists.
