• Hello. I have a cast iron stand approx 50 lbs.The opening is 2 inches across. I want to buy the Tropishade 11 foot Market Umbrella. Will this Market Umbrella fit in my cast iron stand.

  • It will fit, but the manufacturer recommends a 75 lb base- I think. Due to size and weight of umbrella, I would follow the recommendation.

• does an 11 ft umbrella take a special size base? I am thinking of going from 9 ft to 11 ft using same base I have?

  • Hello Pam M., you will have to consider another base, the umbrella you are looking at has a bottom pole of 1 3/4" , plus we recommend at least a 50 lb base for a 11' Umbrella. Have a great day!

• Want to know what percent of shade the cloth provides. I ordered another umbrella on line last year but was disappointed because it's more translucent and allows some sunrays through. I need a heavy solid fabric.

  • It is a replacement for one broken in high winds last year. It is as close to what I have by the discription that I have found, except mine has a 2.0" pole, and the price is very good. I paid more than this for my last one some years ago.

  • For our No. VA patio, we've tried "windproof" tilt umbrellas from Costco at about $200 each, and they did OK for maybe 2-3 seasons, but the multi-vent feature allowed rain to dribble on us and bird and tree droppings stained them to ugliness. We also found that we rarely needed the tilting feature. We're hoping that the Olefin fabric Tropishade model will not stain or dribble and perhaps last long enough before replacing the canopy.

  • The pole diameter is about 1.75 inches and oversized. I had to search high and low for a umbrella base and table that would accommodate this sized pole. This will not fix standard table so be sure that you measure the opening to be sure that it is at least 2 inches.
