"Is the top shelf deep enough to provide a solid base for a 16" wide microwave?"
I own two of these in the 5 shelf version. Loved them so much I bought the 3 shelf version. I searched forever before ordering this shelf. The look wonderful in my kitchenette next to the pantry. I display antique kitchenware on several shelves, the lower shelves I put baskets and store those rarely used but must have kitchen appliances and utensils. The wood grain is perfect, very sturdy.

Just what I was hoping for! I purchased this piece to serve as a media console in our master bedroom sitting area, and it's perfect for this purpose. The top is deep enough to provide a solid base for our 32" flat screen television. The build itself is quite sturdy, and the lower shelves, though not as deep, provide just enough space to house the DVR/cable box, our Blu-Ray player, some DVD/Blu-Ray cases, books and knick-knacks. Standing roughly counter height, the top of the unit is situated perfectly to see the television from our bed in the neighboring master bedroom. Putting the unit together was simple and took about one hour. I've read that some people had a hard time lining up holes with the crossbars, but I was able to easily make this work by putting pressure on one leg with my body and lining up the other crossbar and leg by pushing with my arms. This is one of the best ready-to-assemble pieces of furniture I've ever purchased, primarily because it doesn't look like an RTA piece. I give it four stars because there were some dents and dings in the materials, but they were all in places that would not be visible when the piece was assembled. I would absolutely recommend this unit to anyone who needs elegant looking storage.

Great for the price These shelves are nice and heavy. Easy to assemble. I will say that if you think the wood is even slightly dark you are wrong. I was hoping that the wood was dark which the picture slightly depicts. This wood is a honey color and far from dark. Luckily they match my honey wood bedroom furniture. Really nice. I almost bought the taller version. Glad I didn't. They are thick and could be overwhelming depending on where you put them.

Just what I was looking for I bought this to replace a cabinet I had in my mud room. You can not imagine how hard it is to find a stand like this that's this high - 36 inches. It's good quality and was a cinch to put together. I did it myself in no time. It's very sturdy and the 3 shelves give me all the space I was looking for
